Latest | Transfer news: Merino to Arsenal imminent, fresh Osihmen interest, Ugarte to Man Utd agreed

All of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are expected to strengthen their squads even further by the close of play in the transfer market. Arsenal are keen on Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino and fresh reports suggest a deal is now imminent.

Indeed, there are even suggestions the Gunners could still add Victor Osimhen to their ranks too, given he’s asked to leave Napoli.

United were said to have agreed terms with Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte months ago, only to see the deal stall – reportedly over a difference in valuation.

Now, however, there could be a breakthrough, with claims a move has finally been agreed. Ben Chilwell may follow, having been allowed to leave Chelsea.

Chelsea, meanwhile, recently landed Joao Felix but Enzo Maresca has hinted the Blues could yet add more players to their squad.

Liverpool have sold midfielder Bobby Clark to RB Salzburg in a £10m deal.

The Premier League club will also have a 17.5 per cent sell-on clause and a matching-rights agreement if they want to buy him back.

Clark will be reunited with former Liverpool assistant manager Pep Lijnders, who has taken charge of the Austrian club and could be playing Champions League football after Salzburg beat Dynamo Kiev 2-0 in the first leg of their play-off.

The 19-year-old becomes the second player to leave Liverpool this summer after Fabio Carvalho joined Brentford for £27.5m and another who has produced a sizeable profit.

Manchester City could hand a second debut to Ilkay Gundogan for the home visit of Ipswich Town.

The midfielder is widely expected to seal a remarkable return to the Premier League champions, just a year after guiding the club to an historic Treble and then leaving to join Barcelona.

A season at Camp Nou was far from a failure under head coach Xavi, but the new manager Hansi Flick is reportedly keen to get Gundogan off the wage bill and Pep Guardiola is seemingly more than happy to oblige

Fulham are ready to take their summer spending above £100million after they completed the £25m signing of Sander Berge from Burnley.

Having already spent £34m on Emile Smith Rowe and £7m on Jorge Cuenca, Fulham have also agreed a £27m deal to sign Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

A deal worth about £17m for Lyon midfielder Rayan Cherki has also been agreed, though it remains to be seen if he wants to move to Craven Cottage.

After Berge completed his move to Fulham, he said: “It feels fantastic. Fulham has always been a team that has excited me.”
