What started off as a very promising transfer window under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s regime is in huge danger of capitulating. It begs the question as to who is making the decisions at Man Utd and why Dan Ashworth was brought in this summer.
We covered a story yesterday explaining Man Utd’s interest in AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana who is a priority target for AC Milan this summer. The report added that the player would consider a move to Old Trafford.
Now, as per the Italian publication Corriere dello Sport (press image at the end), Man Utd have called both the club and the player’s agent regarding a move for Youssouf Fofana as they look to hijack him from under AC Milan’s noses.
Fofana earns a frankly shocking gross salary of £543,000 a year at the Ligue 1 club. For a player who is a regular presence in Didier Deschamps’ France squad and often gets game time in such a competitive French team, the pay must be much better.
To put this into perspective, Casemiro, the Man Utd midfielder earns £350,000 (gross) per week. Fofana will certainly earn much more than what he is currently with a move to either AC Milan or Old Trafford this summer.
