Kubo, who has also been subject to interest from the lucrative Saudi Arabian market, is a 23-year-old winger who has earned rave reviews in Spain. Kubo is said to have turned both proposals down. He has a release clause around the £51.2million-mark - while the ECHO understands Liverpool ruled out a chase for the player themselves internally.
The forward signed for Sociedad from Spanish giants Real Madrid two years ago. Kubo - capped 35 times by Japan at senior level - has totted-up 159 appearances in La Liga over his career with 22 goals and 18 assists.

Elsewhere, reports from Fabrizio Romano, through social media, argue Lutsharel Geertruida is locked in discussions with Aston Villa over a proposed transfer this summer. The right-back played for Arne Slot at Feyenoord.
