New Arsenal transfer priority now clear for Edu after £30m confirmation and Chelsea decision

With the chaos of the summer trading period behind them, Mikel Arteta and Edu can now look ahead to fulfilling their aims for the 2024/25 season. Early ideas for the January transfer window, and beyond considering how meticulous Arsenal are, will likely be on the agenda though.

In the short-term, all the focus will now be on Arsenal's upcoming clash against Brighton before the September international break comes into play. With the summer transfer window now closed, football.london has taken a look at what could be next for Arsenal.

Nketiah exit and Chelsea decision leads to Osimhen
Amidst all the chaos, Eddie Nketiah's permanent move to Crystal Palace got somewhat lost in the shuffle. The Gunners agreed a £25million fee with Palace earlier this week and a further £5million are available as potential add-ons.

Having also agreed to sell Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton for a similar price, the Gunners have acquired decent funds and it could soon become clear exactly where that should go. Like Arsenal, Chelsea endured a chaotic deadline day that involved them seeing a late move to sign Victor Osimhen turned down and the striker thus remain at Napoli.

Considering he will likely still be available in the next few transfer windows, and Arsenal now have a gap in their squad for a forward following Nketiah's exit, there seems an easy decision that can be made.
