‘NOT OVER YET’: Arsenal could still end up signing £86m striker this summer – journalist

Arsenal’s search for a new striker has led them up a number of dead ends this summer.
The north London club have chased a number of striker targets this summer, but, as of yet, nothing has come to fruition.

According to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, Arsenal’s interest in Viktor Gyokeres isn’t over yet.

Indeed, according to the journalist, the deal that could see Gyokeres end up at Arsenal isn’t dead just yet.

Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal isn’t dead
Kay shared what he knows about the Sporting striker.

“We know for a long while Arsenal have been massive fans of Gyokeres over there, that is still not dead. The only thing that has changed with Gyokeres is that in January there was a chance we would’ve paid the £86m, but with the form of Kai Havertz, Arsenal would never pay that for any forward,” Kay said.

“It’s all about who becomes available, whether it’s a winger or a striker, Arsenal can go either or. If Gyokeres is available and Arsenal can get him for £50m, I can guarantee he would be the number one, and as I said earlier in the show, that’s not dead, they are massive fans of Gyokeres.”

Gyokeres would be a gamechanger
This would be a blockbuster signing to end the transfer window for Arsenal.

The Gunners have been waiting for a new striker to arrive for 18 months now, and this could be a remarkable end to this saga.

£86m is a lot of money, but there is an argument to make that Gyokeres could be worth it. After all, he’s been in incredible form over in Portugal over the past 12 months.

This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as we head towards deadline day.
