Thomas Partey then fired in the second to seal the three points at Villa Park – a ground they lost at last term.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta admitted Arsenal could still make another signing before the transfer window slams shut on August 30th.
With that said, it’s just come to light that they’re actively pursuing a goalkeeper on the continent.

Arsenal pursuing Joan Garcia
Arsenal have been linked to Joan Garcia for most of the summer transfer window as they look to bring in a number two goalkeeper in the event Aaron Ramsdale departs.
Ramsdale is in talks to join Wolves so The Gunners are stepping up their interest in Espanyol’s Garcia, according to Spanish outlet AS.
It’s claimed they’re ‘threatening’ to sign the 23-year-old, who enjoyed a terrific breakout season in LaLiga2 last term.
Garcia is also of interest to Tottenham Hotspur and is expected to cost suitors around £35m – which is his rumoured release clause.
Arsenal should prioritise an attacker
In the remaining five days of the window, Arsenal should prioritise a move for an attacker and in particular a striker.
The Gunners are facing an anxious wait to see how long Gabriel Jesus will be out injured and with Kai Havertz the only other recognised striker at the club, the need for reinforcements in that area is apparent.
