Report: Club now willing to sell player Arsenal have wanted for years for as low as £26m, he was £115m in 2020

Arsenal have already bolstered their defence with the signing of Riccardo Calafiori – although an interesting market opportunity has now arisen.

Mikel Arteta appears to have sorted his backline, with Calafiori expected to play an inverted role from the left, with Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba and Ben White continuing as normal.

Now – however – an opportunity has appeared which might tempt Arsenal into a rethink…

Alphonso Davies situation has now changed
A story from AS states that Bayern Munich have now changed their mind regarding Alphonso Davies – and could even sell the Canada international for just €30m (£26m) this summer.

The left-back only has 11 months remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena, a deal Bayern Munich have struggled to renew in unsuccessful talks with the defender.

Uli Hoeness – who was President of Bayern Munich – recently made a firm comment about the situation involving Davies, stating that the Canadian would remain in Bavaria for the 2024/25 campaign regardless of whether he signs a new deal or not.

Now – however – AS believe that stance has changed, with Bayern Munich preferring to cash in, rather than lose the man from Buduburam for nothing in 2025.

It comes after TBR Football exclusively revealed that Arsenal are long-term admirers of Davies, and have extensive interest in his current contract situation.

Real Madrid are also closely monitoring the 23-year-old.

Arsenal could secure a bargain
Whoever manages to sign Davies for just £26m this summer would be getting themselves a bargain.

It was only in 2020 that the Bayern Munich No.19 was valued at €133.5m (£115m) by the CIES Football Observatory, after he helped fire the German giants to UEFA Champions League glory.

An inflammatory heart condition called myocarditis, which occurred after Davies contracted COVID-19, and a few muscle injuries have caused his progress to stagnate somewhat, although as seen through his stunning strike against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final last season, he is still an elite footballer.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation.

If Davies really is available for £26m this summer, a number of clubs will surely be scrambling to sign him.
