Report: Liverpool expected to bid for 'incredible' £60m Premier League midfielder next week

A lot has been made of Liverpool’s lack of transfer activity this summer but one Premier League club are still expecting to see the Reds come knocking next week.

Liverpool have yet to make a new signing and have seen a pursuit of Martin Zubimendi knocked back as well.

Arne Slot is not panicking though and he has said that if new faces do arrive then great, but if not, he is more than happy with what he’s working with.

Of course, Liverpool have been known to strike out of nowhere as they did with Luis Diaz and others in the past.

And according to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Crystal Palace are expecting Liverpool to come knocking for Ebere Eze before next Friday.

Liverpool expected to bid for Ebere Eze before the deadline
According to the latest Reading the Game newsletter written by The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Crystal Palace are expecting bids from Liverpool and Man City for Eze.

The midfielder has remained at Selhurst Park this summer but he has looked one as Michael Olise has departed and continued speculation gathers about Marc Guehi.

However, it is Eze who Delaney suggests the Reds could make a late bid for this week.

One problem for Liverpool and City could be Palace’s insistence that the fee for Eze is going to be north of £60m.

There is no doubt that Eze is an ‘incredible‘ footballer but right now, you’d ask where he fits in at Liverpool.

Yes, you can never have enough quality in the ranks and Eze would strengthen Liverpool as a hole.

But right now, he’s not getting into the starting XI in the front three, while you’d question if he had the discipline to play in the midfield three.

Eze, then, might well be better off waiting for a more viable option to become available where he can go and star from day one.
