Report: Liverpool now considering late swoop for 'complete' Euro 2024 centre-back

Liverpool are likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming days as they look to get at least one signing on board this summer.

The Reds are the only Premier League club yet to sign a player this summer and, with just 10 days until deadline day, they’re running out of time.

Liverpool are currently said to be closing in on a move for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, but he isn’t set to link up with the Reds until next year.

However, a report has come out claiming the Anfield outfit is now pondering a move for a “complete” defender who played at Euro 2024.

Liverpool plotting late Goncalo Inacio swoop
The player in question is Sporting Lisbon’s Goncalo Inacio, a player who Liverpool have been linked with since last year.

According to CaughtOffside, Inacio is firmly in Liverpool’s sights and there could now be a concrete effort to try to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield.

Liverpool’s purported interest in the Portugal international comes amid speculation linking Joe Gomez with a move away from Anfield.

The report claims Gomez is in the sights of fellow Premier League sides Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

At the same time, Liverpool boss Arne Slot is said to be content with his squad and not desperate for any new arrivals this summer.

Who is Liverpool target Goncalo Inacio?
Inacio has come through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon – after starting out at local Portuguese club Almada AC – and is now one of their key players.

The reported Liverpool target was previously deemed ‘one of the hottest talents in Europe’, as per a Daily Mail scouting report.

Meanwhile, Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout has described Inacio as a “complete” centre-back.

Inacio has already made 174 competitive appearances for Sporting, registering 16 goals and nine assists, an impressive tally for a centre-back.

He has also won 11 Portugal caps, registering two goals and two assists, and featured at Euro 2024.
