Having watched every other side in the Premier League make signings, the Reds have stayed quiet since the end of the season.
Perhaps wisely, Liverpool have allowed Arne Slot to have a proper look at the players available to him in pre-season before making any decisions.
And having overseen three games – two official and one behind closed doors – Slot now looks to have made up his mind over what he needs added to the Liverpool squad.
The flipside of having a quiet start to the transfer window is that things can then get exciting towards the end. At Anfield, it sounds like the fun is just about to get started.

Liverpool set to ramp up transfer activity
Liverpool will touch down back in the UK early next week after a productive 10 or 11 days in the US.
The Reds impressed Mikel Arteta on Thursday and have the chance to get an early punch in on rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
After that, the big boys of the Liverpool squad who have not yet worked with Slot will report to the AXA Training Centre to be put through their paces.
Meanwhile, in the facilities’ offices, it sounds like sporting director Richard Hughes is set to be an extremely busy man.
According to The Independent, the ‘belief around the Liverpool camp’ is that business is due to ‘accelerate’ next week.
It’s claimed that the Reds are then likely to be putting in ‘concrete bids’ for players of interest in the coming 10 days.
Interestingly, Liverpool are said to be ready to bring in as many as four new players in the final weeks of the window.
The Reds are reportedly looking to sign a new centre-back, a defensive midfielder and potentially two wide forwards. That’s a lot of work to do and not much time to do it in.
Who could Liverpool be targeting?
After a silent window so far, this will be extremely exciting for Liverpool supporters to read.
Of course, there is still a chance that the Reds can’t quite get everything they want to do over the line. We know that if the right player is not available, they won’t fill the gaps for the sake of it.
Nevertheless, with journalists like James Pearce actively predicting that Liverpool will make signings, it sounds like something is brewing.
The most concrete links so far have been in the forward area where Anthony Gordon is still of interest to Liverpool.
But other than Gordon, we are genuinely intrigued to see who the Reds could bring in. There’s no chance they haven’t been doing work in the background, so there may be a surprise or two on the way.
