Report: What Liverpool have now directly told Real Sociedad about Martin Zubimendi deal during talks

Liverpool are very serious in their pursuit of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi.

The Reds are in desperate need of a new midfielder. Arne Slot is yet to sign a single player, but he is now pushing to strengthen the middle of his park.

Zubimendi emerged as a serious target a few days ago, and talks have been ongoing with the player and his club about a move to Anfield this summer.

Now, Liverpool have made one thing clear to Sociedad during conversations.

Liverpool tell Real Sociedad they are prepared to pay Martin Zubimendi’s release clause
Zubimendi has been a wanted man for over a year now.

The Spaniard has been one of the best defensive midfielders in La Liga in the last few seasons, and a number of clubs have been interested in him.

Arsenal have tried to sign Zubimendi in the past, while big clubs like Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also had him on their wish list.

Liverpool, however, are now the only club pushing to sign the midfielder, and they have made their stance very clear to Real Sociedad.

Mundo Deportivo claim that Slot’s side have communicated to Sociedad that they are willing to pay Zubimendi’s €60 million release clause.

It has further been claimed that Liverpool are expecting a ‘final yes’ from the player, having offered him a better salary as well as a leadership role at the club.

At the time of writing, Zubimendi is yet to make a decision on his future.

What Real Sociedad have promised Zubimendi
Real Sociedad don’t want to lose Zubimendi this summer – he is one of their most important players.

The report claims that there is still some hope that the midfielder stays because if he had been convinced by Liverpool’s offer, he wouldn’t have played in the friendly against Union Berlin on Friday.

Furthermore, Sociedad are doing everything they can to keep him at the club.

It has been claimed that club president Jokin Aperribay has held meetings with the player’s agent to convince him to stay, while manager Imanol Alguacil has also held talks with Zubimendi to keep him.

To add to that, Real Sociedad have also promised a bigger salary to Zubimendi which would make him the highest-paid player at the club.

The ball is now in Zubimendi’s court, and it will be interesting to see what he will decide.
