‘This one should develop over the coming weeks’ - David Ornstein shares new Arsenal transfer…

Ajax remain optimistic and are still interested in a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after the Gunners rejected their approach to sign the England international on loan, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
The North London club would prefer a permanent deal for the former Bournemouth star, and they have already lined up Espanyol’s Joan Garcia as a potential replacement should he move on as expected.

Ornstein claims “this one should develop over the coming weeks ahead of the deadline on August 30”, and it is safe to say Arsenal are already preparing for life without Ramsdale

The 26-year-old lost his starting berth to his Spain international counterpart David Raya last season and is desperate to start playing regular football again having made just six Premier League appearances in 2023-24.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has made it very clear that Ramsdale has no chance of forcing his way back into the starting XI after not featuring him in the friendly games against Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon at Emirates over the last week.

Ramsdale was left on the bench for both matches and he knows he has to start playing regularly if he wants to remain an England international following the departure of manager Gareth Southgate, who stuck with him despite his lack of opportunities at club level.

Ajax will hope they can come up with a deal to convince Arsenal, and a loan move with a mandatory option to buy could appeal to the Gunners.

While Karl Hein has extended his deal, the 22-year-old Estonia international is expected to be sent out on loan, and another goalie will be signed.

A move for Wolverhampton Wanderers English goalkeeper Dan Bentley has proven tricky, and the Gunners will now go for Garcia if need be.
