Mikel Arteta’s side will face Wolves, and the Gunners will go into the game as the favourites to kick off their season with a win.
Arsenal are aiming to lift the Premier League title this term after finishing second in each of the last two seasons. They are desperate to pip Manchester City to the crown.
Now, Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Micah Richards have all revealed their predictions on the Rest is Football podcast.
Gary Lineker’s Arsenal prediction sparks a reaction out of Micah Richards
Almost everyone thinks the title race in the 2024/25 Premier League season will be between Arsenal and defending champions Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side, as they always do, will start the campaign as the favourites, and there is every chance they will go all the way in the title race.
However, Arsenal took the race to the final day of the 2023/24 season, and they have strengthened their squad with Riccardo Calafiori coming in.
Arteta will back his side to get one over Manchester City this season, but Lineker believes that won’t happen after the Gunners let him down last term.
“I’m going to go Arsenal second,” said Lineker on the podcast.
A surprised Richards replied: “Ooh, you’ve backtracked, haven’t you? What’s going on?”
When Lineker said that he hasn’t backtracked, Richards claimed: “Well, you picked them to win the league last year if my calculations are correct.”
Lineker then said: “And they let me down!”
Alan Shearer and Micah Richards’ Premier League predictions
Lineker did pick Arsenal to win the Premier League in the 2023/24 season, but the Gunners fell two points short of Manchester City in the end.
Gunners fans will be hoping the former Tottenham man’s prediction will be wrong again this time.
During the discussion, Shearer actually predicted Arsenal to win the title but only if one thing happens – Arteta signs a new striker before the window shuts.
Richards, on the other hand, initially picked Arsenal but then changed his mind and went with Manchester City later in the episode.
It’s going to be a fascinating season, and we can’t wait to see who will win it.
