Toon chiefs are understood to have made tying the Swede down and teammate Anthony Gordon down a top priority. Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton recently committed their long-term futures to St James’ Park.
Signed for a club-record £63million two years ago, Isak has battled niggling injury concerns to develop into Newcastle’s best striker since Alan Shearer. He bagged his first goal of the campaign against Tottenham Hotspur before the international break and is hoping to better last year’s 25 strikes across all competitions.

Speculation surrounding the 24-year-old was rife earlier this year - with Arsenal on red alert. However, Isak insisted he remained happy on Tyneside and no concrete offers were made.
“I’m enjoying myself very, very well in Newcastle,” he said. “I had my best season now in my career. That should not be underestimated. I love everything really about the club, the fans, the city. I actually have no thoughts of a move or anything like that.
“I enjoy myself fantastically well and am very happy with my life. It is not something I am speculating on. Within the team or the club, there has been no talk or drama around it. I have not received the information from the club that they would have to sell me.”
CaughtOffside now claim Isak - who has four years left on his £120,000 per week deal - will not sign a new deal unless a release clause is inserted. Guimaraes famously placed a £100million option when he agreed a bumper five-year contract last October.
Newcastle value Isak enormously and know keeping him happy relies on European qualification and potential silverware. FFP/PSR restrictions have hampered United’s post-takeover progress but they would never allow the striker to leave cheaply.
