Arne Slot reveals Liverpool injury doubt for Bournemouth as Darwin Nunez message sent

Alisson Becker is an injury doubt for Liverpool's Premier League clash with Bournemouth on Saturday. The goalkeeper felt tightness in his hamstring and may not be able to train on Friday before Slot finalises his plans for the match.

Alisson has played every minute for Slot in the five games he's taken charge of so far. But the Dutchman will likely turn to Caoimhin Kelleher to start against Bournemouth should Alisson fail to recover in time for the Anfield match.

And Slot explained that the 31-year-old felt the problem before the win over AC Milan but the issue has not gone away after he played 90 minutes in Italy.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Slot said: "Alisson is still a doubt if he can train today. Let's wait if he can train, if he can't he'll probably not play so we will see."

He added: "He has a slight issue with one of his muscles. We wonder if this game is coming too early or not. It happened before Milan game but after he felt it more."

Slot, who is still without Harvey Elliott against Bournemouth after the midfielder broke a foot during the international break, has only made minor changes to his starting line-ups in matches this season.

And Darwin Nunez is yet to start under the former Feyenoord boss, with Cody Gakpo coming in against Milan and impressing in the 3-1 victory.

Asked what Nunez had to do to break into the side, Slot explained "The same as always the others. Work really hard and then the goals will come. That's what he (Gakpo) did when he came in against AC Milan.

"You come in and work for the team and then as a result of that attackers score goals or get assists. That's what happened to Cody, but it will happen with Lucho (Luis Diaz), Mo (Mohamed Salah) and Diogo (Diogo Jota). If you play in a team like Liverpool, you will always score your goals and get your assists.

"For me it's mainly about the work we do without the ball. That they will score goals or get assists, I know, and that's the same with Darwin.. He will get his chance in the near future. We play a lot of games, he's fitter and fitter now, and understands day by day what we expect from him. But he is in competition with Diogo, who in my and our opinion has done really well.

"Darwin came back with a lot of confidence from the Copa America, where he scored some good goals, and he always has confidence, and he has evert right to have that confidence, because whenever he's been he's scored goals.

"As long as he brings his workrate for the team, and we bring him enough positions, I'm 100% sure, he, or Diogo, or one of the others, will score goals
