The summer transfer window has now slammed shut for Premier League clubs but Arsenal could still sign a free agent.

Arsenal could still sign Adrien Rabiot
With Merino now sidelined for a few weeks, Arsenal really should consider signing free agent Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman’s Juventus contract expired earlier this summer and despite strong links to Liverpool, amongst others, he remains available.

Arsenal were in talks with Rabiot earlier in the window but opted to sign Merino instead, so evidently he’s a player admired by Arteta.

AC Milan are reallly pushing to land the 29-year-old’s signature at this stage.

Adrien Rabiot profile
Rabiot, who is also left-footed, is of a very similar profile to Merino and would be able replace his qualities in the middle of the park.

The former Juve man likes to attack the box as evinced by his eight goal involvermnts in Serie A last season.

Rabiot, who’s been labelled ‘world class’ per Football Italia, typically operates as a box-to-box midfielder and would likely partner Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard in the middle.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal even consider looking at the free agent market.
