Arsenal 'enter transfer race' for 'world's best player' amid contract stall reports

Arsenal are reported to have joined the race to sign Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich, as the 21-year-old is said to be ‘stalling’ on signing a contract extension with the Bundesliga giants.
The Germany international is fast becoming one of the ‘world’s best players’ and has just two years left on his current contract in Munich. The club are said to now be working hard to tie him down with a new deal at the Allianz Arena but the winger is quickly picking up interest from some of Europe’s most elite clubs, with the Gunners said to be among those monitoring the situation.

The 21-year-old has also attracted eyes from Manchester City and Liverpool but Arsenal are the latest to reportedly be following the German’s ongoing contract stalemate, according to TBR Football.

It is not yet known how much Bayern would be willing to let their star forward go for, or if indeed they are willing at all, but as TransferMarkt currently puts his market value down as £85m, it is highly likely a similar fee to what was required for Declan Rice may well be necessary to prise Musiala away from Germany.

The star has already found the back of the net twice in four matches this season, while also contributing with an assist, adding to the 12-goal haul he produced in the 2023/24 campaign.

Bayern understandably view the rising sensation as a crucial part of their project going forward and supposedly wish to bring in Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to play alongside him. However, in order for the pair to bring their partnership from the national side to the domestic team, the Bavarian club need to keep Musiala.

TBR Football reported on Sunday that amid the ongoing interest from the Premier League, and La Liga giants Real Madrid, Musiala rejected a new contract offer from Bayern Munich and while talks continue to be ongoing, a breakthrough has not yet arrived.
