Arsenal made approach to sign £50m Brighton player this summer – Insider

Arsenal pulled off one of the signings of the summer on deadline day as they signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea.

The England international is going to spend this season at Arsenal, but, it took right up until the last minute for this move to go through.

Arsenal had been looking for a winger all summer long, and while they ultimately settled on Sterling, they had other targets in mind earlier in the window.

Simon Adingra was linked to Arsenal at one point, and according to Arsenal insider, Team News and Ticks, speaking on his Patreon, the Gunners did actually make an approach and ask how much Adingra would cost this summer.

Arsenal asked about Simon Adingra
The reporter shared what he knows about Adingra.

“Simon Adingra, we broke Twitter with that one, he was trending because I said he was someone we were targeting. We did ask about the price, but it was way too high. I saw someone say Arsenal could get him for £30/35m, but Brighton’s price was much higher than that,” He said.

Simon Adingra would be expensive
As Team News and Ticks says, Adingra would be more than £35m.

The Ivorian has started this season brilliantly, and it’s easy to see why Brighton valued the winger so highly.

After receiving big fees for the likes of Marc Cucurella and Moises Caicedo, it’s fair to say that Brighton are shrewd negotiators and they don’t let their talented players leave on the cheap.

Ultimately, Arsenal ended up with Sterling on a season long loan, but the Gunners could, once again, be in the market for an attacker next summer, and, if they are, don’t be surprised if the links to Adingra rear their heads again.
