Arsenal 'plan to sell three players' as Edu makes brutal decision after £77m transfers

Arsenal are hoping to sell at least three first-team players next summer. The Gunners managed to recoup around £70million from offloading stars during the recent transfer window, as Mikel Arteta tries to reshape his squad with the help of sporting director Edu.

Emile Smith Rowe was sold to Fulham for £27m plus £7m add-ons, Crystal Palace signed Eddie Nketiah for £25m and Aaron Ramsdale joined Southampton for £18m, combining to a potential income of As well as this, Reiss Nelson, Fabio Viera and Karl Hein were among those to depart on loan, while Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares left at the end of their contracts.

It was a successful summer in that regard, but Arteta is looking at getting rid of more fringe players come the end of the season. According to The Times, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Kieran Tierney and Jakub Kiwior are next on the chopping block as the Gunners attempt to get some cash for the trio.

Sambi Lokonga, who spent last season at Luton, joined Sevilla on loan earlier this summer and will have one year left on his Arsenal contract come the end of his time in Spain. The Belgian has not quite hit the heights many expected of him at the Gunners and the club are keen to get some money before he can leave for free.

Tierney, who is sidelined with a hamstring problem, has found his opportunities limited at Arsenal over the last couple of years. In fact, the Scotland international, who was at Real Sociedad on loan last season, has started just six Premier League matches since suffering a serious knee injury in March 2022.

Kiwior was linked with a move away from the Emirates during the summer window. The Poland international has struggled for regular game time since his £20m move from Spezia in January 2023 and Arsenal want to offload him at the end of the season, having come close to leaving last month.

It's added that a decision is also needed on the futures of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu. Both players are out of contract in 2026 and Arsenal don't want either to leave on free transfers. Zinchenko was available this summer and Tomiyasu has suffered various injuries, including a current issue with his knee.

As for those coming through the doors, Arsenal signed five players this summer. David Raya made his loan move permanent in a £27m deal from Brentford, Riccardo Calafiori joined from Bologna for £42m, Mikel Merino arrived from Real Sociedad for £28.4m plus add-ons before Neto signed from Bournemouth and Raheem Sterling completed a loan switch from Chelsea on deadline day.
