Riccardo Calafiori’s early arrival was followed by Mikel Merino’s signing from Real Sociedad in August.
However, the Gunners had to wait until deadline day for further incomings as Neto and Raheem Sterling joined the club on surprise loan deals.
On the other hand, Arteta and co also missed out on a handful of players this summer.
Another player they seemingly missed out on is Leroy Sane and now, reports from Germany have delivered an interesting update on his future.
Bayern Munich want to renew Arsenal target Leroy Sane’s contract

According to Sport Bild, Bayern are set to hold talks with Sane’s representatives to discuss a potential renewal.
However, they want the 28-year-old to reduce his wages as they’ll have to commit a massive outlay to renew Jamal Musiala’s contract, who is widely regarded as the biggest asset at the club.
The report also states that talks with Sane aren’t expected to be easy as the Bavarian giants want him to agree to a pay cut, which could come as a boost to his potential suitors.
With Sane’s contract set to expire next year, there were whispers that the Bundesliga giants could offload him this summer.
However, Bayern retained Sane despite interest from Arsenal as they were unable to sign Xavi Simons or Desire Doue, who sealed moves to RB Leipzig on loan and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.
Sane was described as an ‘incredible’ player by Rafael van der Vaart during the international break and it remains to be seen what happens with his future.
How Sane could fit in for Arsenal
Arteta knows Sane well as the pair worked together at Manchester City and could look to reunite with him if Bayern don’t manage to tie him down to a new contract.
The German international’s blistering pace and versatility could make him an intriguing option for the Gunners.
Arsenal currently don’t have a back-up for Bukayo Saka and signing a naturally left-footed wide forward like Sane would allow them to rotate the England international.
The 28-year-old is also no stranger to the Premier League due to his stint with Man City, so his signing could tick a lot of boxes for the club.
Whether or not Arsenal rekindle a move for Sane, however, remains to be seen.
