Edu can repeat Havertz and Sterling deals at Arsenal with three more Chelsea transfers

Arsenal’s transfer chief Edu could look to take advantage of the chaos unfolding at Stamford Bridge by repeating the club’s Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling transfer successes.
Havertz made the move from west to north London last summer for a hefty £65million, while Sterling joined Mikel Arteta’s side on loan earlier this year.

In both instances, the general consensus has been Arsenal got the better end of the deal - a far cry from previous Stamford Bridge to Emirates Stadium moves which haven’t worked in the Gunners’ favourite.

But with talk of Chelsea being on the verge of a civil war, Express Sport have hypothesised three more Chelsea players Arsenal could look to snatch in the coming transfer windows.

The jewel in Chelsea’s crown. Of the £1billion plus in transfer fees spent by the Blues, £40m man Cole Palmer is by far the biggest - and potentially only - success story so far.

But, the Euro 2024 final goalscorer won’t be content sticking around at Chelsea forever if the club’s middling results continue and they fail to qualify for the Champions League.

Given he’s settled in the capital over the last year, should Palmer begin agitating for a move away, the best-performing team in London right now, Arsenal, could prove the perfect destination.

Romeo Lavia

From a £40m bargain to a £53m liability. Start to life at Chelsea has been tough for Romeo Lavia, who managed just 32 minutes across an injury-ridden debut season with the two-time European champions.

But it’s clear from his time in the City academy and Southampton’s first-team the potential is there, with Arsenal having reportedly been interested in the midfielder when he was at the latter.

Plus, Arsenal could do with some youthful legs in midfield, given Thomas Partey, Jorginho and even new boy Mikel Merino are all 28 or older.

Christopher Nkunku

New signings missing the majority of their debut season through injury has been a recurring theme at Chelsea in recent years, with Christopher Nkunku another 2023 summer arrival to spend most of his first year in the Premier League on the treatment table.

He’ll be hoping for a better season this time around, but with continued talk of Chelsea eyeing up another attacking addition down the line, Nkunku could find himself out of favour and in need of a move.

Arsenal have hit the jackpot with unfancied Chelsea attackers in the past and what’s to say Nkunku can’t be the next to follow suit, should Edu and co. make a move for the Frenchman.
