'Great replacement': David Seaman buzzing over who's now likely to start for Arsenal against Tottenham

The September international break is finally in the past and Arsenal can get back to business in arguably the biggest fixture in their calendar.

The North London derby awaits Mikel Arteta’s Gunners on Sunday, with a trip to Tottenham on the cards.
Admittedly, Arsenal haven’t had the best international break, with several key players either doubts or unavailable for the Spurs game.

Declan Rice will definitely be absent for the North London derby as the Gunners midfielder was shown a controversial second yellow card against Brighton.

Jorginho is the likeliest replacement for Rice against Tottenham, and Arsenal legend David Seaman has now given his verdict on the Italy international.

David Seaman says Jorginho is a ‘great replacement’ for Declan Rice
The Highbury icon, speaking on the Seaman Says podcast, described Jorginho as a “great replacement” for Rice.

“Looking at who goes in there, it might be Jorginho,” said Seaman. “Great replacement by the way!”

The Euro 2020 winner was on the show earlier this week, and Seaman’s co-host Faye Carruthers noted how he had been coy about potentially coming into the starting XI.

“It’s strange how it’s worked out like that,” joked Seaman.

Carruthers said: “He was coy about it when we asked him as well, wasn’t he? He didn’t want to assume that he was going to play.”

Tottenham v Arsenal team news
Tottenham will hope to have defender Micky van de Ven back after he missed the Newcastle loss before pulling out of international duty with the Netherlands.

Likewise, Dominic Solanke could return after he missed Tottenham’s last two games, while Richarlison is not expected to be fit and Yves Bissouma is a doubt.

For Arsenal, Martin Odegaard is a major doubt for the game with an ankle injury, while Mikel Merino, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are also sidelined.

Riccardo Calafiori suffered a knock on Italy duty, while Gabriel Jesus has been dealing with a groin problem of late and Rice is suspended.

Tottenham v Arsenal is scheduled to kick off at 2pm on Sunday.
