Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino, Neto and Raheem Sterling have all joined the Gunners over the past few months.
In addition, several players who were in Arsenal’s first-team squad have since left, either permanently or on loan.
Eddie Nketiah is one such player, securing a permanent move from the Emirates Stadium to Crystal Palace on transfer deadline day.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has now given his verdict on Nketiah’s move to the Gunners’ London rivals.
Ian Wright believes Eddie Nketiah will hope he can either get Crystal Palace into Europe or get himself on elite clubs’ radar
The Highbury icon, speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, says he’s happy for Nketiah as he’s at an age now where he needs to be playing regularly.
Wright also feels the Hale End graduate has made a “very, very good move” to Palace, where he has some superb teammates who can create chances for him.
In addition, the former Arsenal striker believes Nketiah will be “banking on himself” to either get the Eagles into European contention or to go on the radar of the Premier League’s “bigger clubs”.
Wright said: “I am happy for him, because there’s a lot that he’s banking on himself, going and being a success to either get Palace in a situation where they can be challenging for Europe, or he gets himself in a position where he can start garnering attention from the bigger clubs for him.
“So one of those is probably his goal and I hope it works out for him. He’s got people who can create for him.
“I just feel it’s a very, very good move for him and a move he had to make because he’s 25 now, he’s the perfect age for him to be playing week-in, week-out, get yourself in and around the England squad, score goals, get yourself in there, so as then you can start to show people exactly what you are capable of.”
Nketiah has what it takes to make Arsenal regret selling him
On the one hand, it’s a shame that a player who came through the academy and has been an Arsenal first-teamer for years has left.
On the other, Nketiah is an ‘unbelievable’ player – in Gabriel Jesus’ words – who is good enough to be starting regularly in the Premier League.
As Wright has said, he is at an age where he needs to be playing regularly and really making a name for himself.
Nketiah has shown he has what it takes to do a job at Arsenal, one of the best clubs in the Premier League.
He should do well at Palace, and Gunners fans will no doubt be checking in now and then to see how he fares in red and blue.
Indeed, if Nketiah does really well, Arsenal could go on to regret selling him, especially if he does move to one of their title rivals in the coming years.
