Liverpool star's debut delayed after £10m transfer as Brexit blamed amid 'useless controversy'

Stefan Bajcetic will reportedly not play for Pep Ljinders' Red Bull Salzburg this weekend. That is because he has to receive a work permit to play following his deadline day loan.

Bobby Clark is said to be in the same situation but has also been dealing with a back injury this summer, which prevented him from playing for Liverpool during pre-season. However, that did not deny him a £10million move to Austria.

Bajcetic featured in four friendlies during the club's pre-season tour and the penultimate game at Anfield. However, he did not make a matchday squad once the season began.

Peter Linden Live claims his wait will continue for a while longer because the United Kingdom being outside of the European Union means it now takes time for players to receive work permits to play. Federico Chiesa is also not expected to play this weekend for the Reds because of a lack of minutes this summer while with Juventus.

But when he is ready to play, Italian journalist Fabrizio Ponciroli believes the winger has everything to gain on Merseyside. “He could have avoided the useless controversy over the contract; a thank you to the fans would have been enough. He made the best choice; Chiesa could no longer stay at Juve," Ponciroli said on TMW Radio.

"He is going to a team where he will not be a starter; he comes in as a second or third substitution, and therefore, he will be more relaxed - he will have everything to gain. At Juve, he should have always played great games; this Chiesa struggles a lot to give continuity to his performances.

"I will not miss him; he did great things with Juve, but I remember above all the negative performances because there were too many.

"It is a shame because he is an Italian boy, another important piece that goes abroad, but, in Italy, there was no place suitable for him. Rome does not seem like the right place to me - I think going abroad is the right choice, especially the Premier League”.
