Liverpool team vs Manchester United as Federico Chiesa decision confirmed

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has named an unchanged team to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford. The Dutch head coach is getting ready to face fellow countryman Erik ten Hag for the first time in the Premier League.

Alisson Becker is in the Liverpool goal with a back four of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson. That is the same backline that started the 2-0 victory over Brentford at Anfield last weekend, with one change from the victory by the same scoreline at Ipswich Town a week earlier.

Last week, Slot took off Alexander-Arnold in the second half, replacing him with Conor Bradley to give the Irish full-back the final few minutes of the match. He will have similar options this time around too with multiple defensive options in defense in reserve.

In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch is the deepest-lying player once again with Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai on either side of him in the center of the park. Harvey Elliott and Wataru Endo are among the substitutes.

And in attack, Mohamed Salah is joined once again by Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz. That leaves Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo are the impact options from the sidelines for Slot, as was the case in each of the first two matches of the campaign.

As the Liverpool boss hinted would be the case in his pre-match press conference, new signing Federico Chiesa hasn't made the matchday squad. He could instead debut against Nottingham Forest after the first international break of the campaign.

Liverpool team in full: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Jota, Diaz. (Substitutes: Kelleher, Bradley, Gakpo, Nunez, Elliott, Endo, Quansah, Gomez, Tsimikas).
