MERINO'S WAGES REVEALED:Mikel Merino's wages prove Arsenal have completed the bargain of the summer - Opinion

Mikel Merino was one of five new signings who arrived at Arsenal over the summer transfer window.
The Gunners identified the 28-year-old as a top midfield target this summer and after plenty of back-and-forth with Real Sociedad they got a £27m deal over the line for Mikel Merino.

However, Arsenal are set to be without their new midfield maestro for a few more weeks after Merino suffered a shoulder injury during his first training session at his new club.

But once he returns to fitness, Mikel Arteta has one of the strongest midfield departments in the Premier League.

Merino’s earnings at The Emirates suggest that Arsenal have completed the bargain of the summer.

Mikel Merino wages at Arsenal
A £27m deal for Merino is already a superb deal for the Gunners, but the club’s wage bill has now been revealed and it only makes the agreement even more impressive.

According to The Sun, Merino is earning just £90,000 per week, making him one of the lowest earners in Arsenal’s first team.

The Spanish international is earning less than the likes of Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu, who are on £120,000 per week and £100,000 per week respectively.

Merino signed a four-year contract with Arsenal which includes an option for a further year – at 28 years old he is now in his prime years and the Gunners have tied him down to a bargain deal.

Arsenal’s summer business was superb
Arsenal ticked every box they needed to this summer. Riccardo Calafiori and David Raya arrived to bolster the defence, while Merino and Raheem Sterling have added depth where needed.

The North London outfit narrowly missed out on the Premier League title in successive years but with a good summer now behind them they have their best chance yet of pipping Manchester City to league glory.

Arsenal first have to get past Spurs without tripping up, but once Merino and Rice return to the fray they can push forward with their title charge.
