Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres has had his say on interest that has emanated from the Premier League.
Since moving to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon from EFL Championship side Coventry City, Viktor Gyokeres has made an incredible impact in Portugal, leading to transfer interest mainly emanating from the Premier League.

HITC had reported that Arsenal had scouted Gyokeres from Sporting whilst Liverpool and Chelsea remained keen on the Swedish forward during the previous summer transfer window.

Gyokeres has been in electric goalscoring form for the Portuguese giants and already has seven goals to his name this season after just five games.

As well as reporting on Arsenal’s interest in the Swedish forward, HITC have also reported that Gyokeres is leaning towards signing a new contract at Sporting Lisbon.

With players away from their clubs for two weeks due to the international break, this is the time of year when players feel more open about their future and are willing to discuss in detail their thoughts.

The striker has been speaking to Sport Bladet about his current transfer status after another busy summer of reports linking him to Arsenal.

“They (Sporting) wanted most of the starting players to stay and held us tight. That’s how it turned out, but I enjoy Sporting very much, so for me it was no problem to stay,” he said.

“Of course. You want to play at the highest level. It (his €100m release clause) was probably a bit too much because nothing came of it. Of course, it’s a lot of money. But we’ll see what happens next window…

“I enjoy myself very much in Sporting and can’t complain about anything, so it’s absolutely no problem for me to stay. Of course, you aim to test other leagues and a higher level, but I have no stress.”

Gyokeres hints at potential Arsenal move but will remain at Sporting
The Swedish forward said he would like to experience other leagues and you wonder if this could mean the 26-year-old moving to the Premier League.

One thing is for certain, it won’t be in the near future with Sporting keen on tying down the Swede to a new deal.
