Paul Merson says what bored him about Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest that didn’t happen under Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season with a shock 1-0 home loss to Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot was frustrated by the loss, with Liverpool falling three points behind leaders Man City in the table.

Anfield was stunned when Callum Hudson-Odoi netted the only goal at Anfield in the 72nd minute, having come on as a substitute.

Slot meanwhile made five changes throughout the match, but those players made very little impact on Merseyside.

Nottingham Forest beat the Reds for the first time in the Premier League era, with Slot now aware of his task at Liverpool.

Paul Merson says Liverpool were boring vs Nottingham Forest
The Dutchman had previously enjoyed a 100% success rate from his opening three matches, with seven goals scored and none conceded.

But he has now come under fire from Paul Merson, who has noticed a change between Slot’s style of play and his predecessor Jurgen Klopp.

“I thought Liverpool were a bit boring,” said Merson, as per Sky Sports. “I thought it was slow. When you watched Klopp’s teams play, they break and it is 100mph. It just seemed to go through the phases.”

What went wrong for Arne Slot at Anfield?
The hosts were certainly flat, which certainly raised eyebrows given how exciting they have been this season.

Chances were created, with Luis Diaz coming closest with his effort against the woodwork, but the superb counter-attacking was largely carried out by Forest.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side certainly resembled the Liverpool of old, with one of their quick breaks resulting in the winning goal.

It was, however, poor defending from the home side, with Hudson-Odoi and his fellow attackers given too much time on the ball.

There was, of course, an international break involving many Reds players, but Slot cannot use that as an excuse given the size of his squad.
