PSG hit with injury crisis ahead of Arsenal Champions League clash

Paris Saint-Germain are dealing with several injury concerns going into the Champions League clash against Arsenal. Tuesday night will see the Gunners host PSG at the Emirates Stadium in their second league phase fixture of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta's side were held to a goalless draw with Atalanta in their first match of the revamped competition and go into the game against PSG on the back of a 4-2 win over Leicester City in the Premier League. PSG were in Ligue 1 action on Friday night as they claimed a 3-1 victory over Rennes. Despite securing all three points, Luis Enrique's team were forced to deal with several players being unavailable for the fixture.

Nuno Mendes missed the win over Rennes due to illness for PSG but will hope to return to face Arsenal in midweek. The same cannot be said for some other players, though.

Lucas Hernandez (knee), Presnel Kimpembe (Achilles) and Goncalo Ramos (ankle) are all sidelined with long-term injuries and will not be available to face the Gunners. Vitinha also missed PSG's win over Rennes due to an ankle injury, and it remains uncertain if the midfielder will make a return against Mikel Arteta's side.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is currently sidelined with a thigh injury and has missed each of PSG's last three matches in all competitions, including the victory over Rennes. Should the Italy international be unavailable against Arsenal, then Matvei Safonov could start in goal instead.

Marco Asensio also missed the win over Rennes with a thigh injury, with the former Real Madrid star taking on the role of centre-forward following the departure of Kylian Mbappe. Summer signing Desire Doue is suffering from an ankle issue, and it remains to be seen if the €50million (£42million) midfielder will recover in time to feature against the Gunners.
