Riccardo Calafiori sends seven-word message after Arsenal injury scare

Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has taken to social media to send a message to fans after an injury scare during Italy’s match vs France.
The 22-year-old was named in the starting XI for Friday night’s UEFA Nations League clash at the Parc des Princes. He was however substituted with 20 minutes of the match left to play with what looked like a calf injury following a collision with France’s Ousmane Dembele.

Arsenal handed major Riccardo Calafiori injury worry ahead of North London Derby
Speaking after the game, Italy boss Luciano Spalletti moved to ease the worries of Arsenal over the player being out for any length of time. "We need to assess Riccardo, but with our staff, we’ve a good chance to have him back with us for the next game," he said.

Italy came out as 3-1 winners over Didier Descamps’ side thanks to goals from Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi and Giacomo Raspadori. The win leave them top of group 2 of League A, level on points with Belgium who also came out as 3-1 winners over Israel on Friday night.

Taking to social media on Saturday, Calafiori gave his response to his team’s performance and result. He made no reference to his injury, suggesting that it’s not serious.

He wrote on Instagram: "What a performance, what a night! Bravi ragzzi"

Italy, and hopefully Calafiori, will be back in action on Monday night (9 September) as they travel to take on Israel. The defender will then return to Arsenal to begin preparations for the North London Derby against Spurs just a few days later.

The Gunners travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, 15 September (2pm kick-off). They will be without midfielders Declan Rice and Mikel Merino who will miss the game through suspension and injury.
