‘That will harm them’: Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher deliver their North London derby score predictions

The complexion of the upcoming North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur has changed considerably over the last fortnight.
First of all, Arsenal lost Declan Rice to suspension in the final Premier League game before the international break – a hammer blow.

And whilst away with Norway over the past week, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard suffered an ankle injury which could rule him out until the latter part of October.

That’s not to say that Tottenham don’t have injury concerns themselves, fans in N17 will still be waiting for a definitive update on both Dominic Solanke and Micky van de Ven.

Both will be crucial when facing their rivals, particularly the Dutchman given how much his defensive presence was missed during the defeat to Newcastle United.

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher agree on Arsenal vs Tottenham prediction
Speaking on the ‘Stick To Football’ podcast, both Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have now provided their score predictions for the big derby.

Neville said it was his favourite in the league as broadcaster, a game he always looks forward to.

And when recognising the key players Arsenal had missing, the pair both agreed that it would be a tough afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Carragher said: “I think Tottenham will dominate the game, but Arsenal’s defence will make sure they get something from the game.”

Neville added: “I just think that Arsenal could have a couple of players, well, they got a couple of players out, big players, Declan Rice and Odegaard probably, so I think that will harm them. They are massive players for Arsenal.”

Carragher: “1-1.”

Neville then quickly echoed his prediction: “1-1.”

Postecoglou won’t settle for a draw
Whilst a draw would represent marginal progress for Ange Postecoglou’s side, given Arsenal won on their away trip 3-2 last season – would Spurs be happy with a point?

It has to be perceived that Arsenal arrive in N17 something akin to a wounded animal, their midfield is going to be very unfamiliar.

And should Postecoglou have both Solanke and Van de Ven at his disposal, he must believe that Spurs can ride a raucous atmosphere to win.

A fascinating tie at this stage of the season.

And it’ll be interesting to see whether Arsenal could start Ethan Nwaneri for the first time ever in the Premier League – an exciting talent who might be set for his big moment.
