Tottenham star reveals major North London derby team news hours before Arsenal match

Tottenham will have star striker Dominic Solanke BACK for the North London derby, if Richarlison is to be believed.

The 27-year-old has endured a frustrating start for his new club following a £65m summer move from Bournemouth. He picked up an injury on his debut against Leicester and has been sidelined since.

He returned to training this week, albeit Solanke remained a doubt for the game. But Richarlison - who is also sidelined with his own injury - seems sure that the forward will be playing given his latest social media activity.

Solanke was celebrating his birthday on Saturday and wrote on Instagram: “Thank you Lord for another year. Thanks for all the love and messages.”

Richarlison replied to that post with a prediction that Son Heung-min would be providing Solanke with his first Spurs goal against Arsenal. The Brazilian wrote: “Sonny will give you a gift tomorrow bro.”

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou had given an update on his side earlier this week and neither refused to rule Solanke out - or indeed suggest he could start. He also gave an insight into the fitness of defender Micky van de Ven.

The Australian said: “Micky’s good, he’s trained all the way through the international break and it was good for him to stay with us to build him back up so he’s ready to go.

“Dom’s improved as well and trained the back half of this week. We still have two days to go with those guys so hopefully they get through training ok and are available.”

One man who Spurs won’t be able to call on though is midfielder Yves Bissouma. Postecoglou confirmed he had picked up an issue. He added: "We had the last of the boys in late yesterday so we'll have a look at them today and everyone's reporting all well except for Biss. He's got a bit of an issue, but we'll have a look at him over the next couple of days and see how it settles."

While Spurs have a host of problems to navigate against Arsenal, the same could be said of the Gunners. Mikel Arteta has a few midfield concerns to consider with Declan Rice injured, while Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard are both ruled out with injury.

Arsenal also have a slight issue in defence. Summer signing Riccardo Calafiori was injured while on international duty with Italy and was forced to return to North London.
