Wonderkid breaks silence on transfer interest after Man Utd 'send scouts' to watch him amid Arsenal interest

Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch a player dubbed as 'one of the best young stars in world football' - and the player himself has responded.

United adapted their transfer strategy in the summer to focus more on younger players following the acquisition of a minority stake in the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Leny Yoro, 18, arrived from Lille for a £50 million fee, although fans are yet to see him in competitive action for the club due to a metatarsal injury.

And on deadline day, the club completed the signing of little-known midfielder Sekou Kone, also 18, from Malian side Guidars.

Now, they are reportedly targeting yet another wonderkid.

According to Norwegian outlet TV 2 Sporten, United sent scouts to watch Rosenborg's match against Lillestrom on Monday.

They were reportedly believed to be eyeing up midfielder Sverre Halseth Nypan, who started the game.

The 17-year-old, who was previously linked with Arsenal, has now responded to reports that United are interested in signing him in January.

He said (as per MUnitedFR): "I didn't know about it. So I don't really think about it.

"It will always be like that, so I don't think about it. I have to learn to deal with it, and I think I have.

United's interest reportedly dates back to pre-season, where they experienced Nypan's talents first hand.

Their opening friendly saw them lose 1-0 to Rosenborg in a friendly, with the Norwegian side at a far more advanced stage in terms of their fitness levels as their league campaign had already begun.

While Erik ten Hag's side was depleted due to players on international duty at Euro 2024 and the Copa America, Nypan is said to have impressed those in attendance.

He has six assists and five goals to his name in the 2024 Eliteserien season, and netted a stunning hat-trick in Rosenborg's 4-0 win over Lillestrom last month.
