Reis is a product of Palmeiras’ academy and has done well to establish himself as an important member of their first team. The 18-year-old has scored two goals in 15 matches for the Brazilian club thus far across all competitions.
The Brazilian talent has been a decent contributor at the back as he averaged 1.5 tackles, 0.5 interceptions and 3.4 clearances per 90 minutes in the Brasileirao. He was even careful when distributing possession from inside his half after making 91.9% of his attempted passes in the Brazilian top tier (stats via whoscored).
Reis is under contract at the Brazilian club until the end of 2028. Hence, the Gunners would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about landing him next year.
Reis is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.
The Brazilian talent is primarily a centre-back but can also function as a right-back if told to do so. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove his worth at the highest level.
At 18, Reis has got the ceiling to be a world-class player in his position someday. He is undoubtedly a star in the making, so the Gunners would be wise to try everything in his power to lure him to the Emirates Stadium. However, Arteta has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the gifted youngster at the London club.
