Arsenal star linked to ongoing court case by former Manchester City player

Former Manchester City players Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have joined Arsenal in the past few years.

Since Mikel Arteta became head coach of Arsenal, he brought in these former players from his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

The Spaniard has completely transformed an Arsenal side from mediocrity to genuine title challengers since he took over.

Jorginho, another signing under Arteta, was impressed with the environment at Arsenal when he arrived. The Champions League winner gave full credit to the Gunners boss for the turnaround:

“The mentality now is different because you can see the hunger of wanting to win.

“The way you train every day, the information you have — even pictures at the training ground. Everything’s about winning.

“It’s really good as Mikel put up all these messages you see. It gets into your mind when you keep seeing them and you start to believe it.

“Then you get into the habit. You have the motivation and all we want to do is win.”

Raheem Sterling and other ex-City players named in court case
Former Manchester City player Benjamin Mendy has dragged the Premier League champions to court over unpaid wages. City stopped paying Mendy after he was charged with rape and sexual assault a few years ago.

An excerpt from the court proceedings sees the Frenchman name Raheem Sterling, among other City players that helped him financially during the period.

“I struggled to pay my child support, I felt awful,” the footballer said in a witness statement.

“my life was turned upside down forever.”

“Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all lent me money to help me try and pay my legal fees and support my family,”

Mendy was officially found not guilty after going on trial.

Former City player accuses other teammates of inappropriate conduct
In his case to win over £11million in unpaid wages from his former club, Benjamin Mendy alleged other players in the team were also involved in “unprofessional conduct and behavior” during the COVID period.

“Several Manchester City first-team players, including the club captain, were all present at the parties that I attended and hosted,” Mendy alleged in a written statement.

“We all drank alcohol. We all had casual relations with women. We all breached Covid-19 restrictions. This does not excuse my behaviour, but I feel that it is unfair for Manchester City to single me out in the way that they have. The difference between me and the other Manchester City players is that I was the one that was falsely accused of rape and publicly humiliated.”
