Arsenal XI vs Preston: Confirmed team news and predicted lineup

Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly are both expected to start when Arsenal travel to Preston in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Neither Lewis-Skelly nor Nwaneri has started a game since then, but both have appeared off the bench.

They are expected to be included as part of several changes anticipated by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta for Wednesday’s fourth round clash at Championship side Preston.

Chance to impress: Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri should both start for Arsenal against Preston in the Carabao Cup last 16

Goalkeeper Tommy Setford could make his debut with David Raya’s on-loan deputy Neto cup-tied, while fellow 18-year-old Josh Nichols will hope to get the nod at right-back.

Jakub Kiwior should start in the heart of defence and could be paired with William Saliba, who is available after serving his one-match suspension against Liverpool.

“I will decide that and when I’ve decided you will see the team,” said Arteta on Tuesday, when asked if Saliba will come straight back into the team.

Jorginho is expected to come in and captain the side. He could be joined in midfield by Oleksandr Zinchenko, who has not played for Arsenal since August due to a calf injury.

In attack, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling are both set to start - but Arteta faces a dilemma as to who joins them.
