Breakthrough Premier League star Arsenal must sign in January – ‘He’s the real deal'

Arsenal should get the chequebook out in January and sign Aston Villa sensation Jhon Duran.

At least, that's according to Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke. For all his fancy footwork and close control, Gabriel Jesus has struggled to score consistently since making the switch to the Emirates amid various injury problems.
And, while Kai Havertz has defied expectations after a slow start, bagging 12 goals in his last 20 league appearances, some still doubt the German's best position is upfront. Over the summer, players like former Brentford man Ivan Toney and Sporting's Victor Gyokeres were suggested as potential Arsenal targets, however the Gunners opted not to add to their roster of forwards, despite the departure of Eddie Nketiah.

Especially with a certain Norwegian scoring record breaking numbers for their title rivals Man City, Arsenal fans may feel like the side might need some reinforcements in January after all. One former Prem striker reckons he knows the perfect player to add to Arteta's side's goalscoring acumen.

Former United striker Dwight Yorke, who scored 123 Premier League goals, believes Colombian forward Jhon Duran would a perfect fit. Speaking to Prime Casino, Yorke, who also represented Villa and Sunderland, said that Duran looked "a real handful and a bit different from the rest."

"He’s got that good presence about him. I would take a chance on him, he looks like the real deal. What I look for is people who are hungry, and he’s got that," Yorke said. He added: "In terms of the big boys, Arsenal haven’t got an outstanding No. 9"

Duran, aged just 20, has featured for Villa mainly as a substitute this campaign, coming on to replace or reinforce star man Ollie Watkins. Despite that, the South American has scored four goals in the league, averaging an incredible one every 39 minutes. And it's not just the quantity but the quality of his goals that's been turning heads.

An absolute stunner against Everton earlier this month is a prime Goal of the Mont contenderh, and his exquisite chip over Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer, which granted Villa a famous 1-0 win, will hold a special place in Villa folklore for some time.

While Duran was a target for London rivals West Ham and Chelsea in the summer, Gunners fans will be wondering whether they his services could help in their pursuit of a first League title in 21 years.
