Cesc Fabregas hits out at fake Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer comments amid Arsenal vs Chelsea row

Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has slammed 'fake' quotes circulating over Cole Palmer and Bukayo Saka.
Both players have made strong starts to the season, with Palmer, in particular, continuing his impressive debut season at Stamford Bridge. The England internationals have nudged their way into the conversation for a starting place within the Three Lions XI as change in the dugout appears to be imminent following Lee Carsley's temporary spell.

Saka has two goals and seven assists in the opening seven top-flight outings, after netting 16 times in 35 Premier League appearances last term. Palmer was a key member of Mauricio Pochettino's side, earning him the PFA Young Player of the Year award and already, the 22-year-old has six goals to his name after being everpresent for the Blues.

However, Fabregas was forced to dispute false quotes citing that the Premier League icon claimed that the former Manchester City youngster 'wouldn't start for any of the top six'.

"The danger of social media is people really believe anything they read," the 37-year-old tweeted. "No need to compare players, England are lucky to have 2 amazing talents, just enjoy them! #Fake!"

It comes after an X user tweeted quotes, associating them with the Spaniard, saying: "I assure you that Palmer cannot get a starting spot at any EPL top 6 except maybe Manchester united and Tottenham.

"Saka walks in every team on the Universe. For me this debate is irrelevant," adding: "Yes sir. Debate closed!"

The false claim was community noted by the platform and old quotes from Fabregas were unearthed describing the 22-year-old as a "game-changer".

He said earlier this month: "When someone is that special, when someone makes you see and feel that - whatever happens in the team - you know he's a game-changer.

"We've seen it throughout the years with different types of players. It's fair to say it could be the right thing to do [build a team around him at Chelsea]."
