David Seaman shares secret Bukayo Saka injury update ahead of Arsenal vs Liverpool

Arsenal legend David Seaman has shared a positive injury update on Bukayo Saka ahead of the Gunners' clash with Liverpool on Sunday.

Saka has missed Arsenal's last two games after picking up a hamstring injury while away on international duty with England and manager Mikel Arteta suggesting the winger would not be fit to face Liverpool when asked for an update after his side's 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.

However, Seaman spotted a "good sign" that Saka could feature on Sunday when he visited Arsenal's London Colney training ground to help coach their young goalkeepers. And when asked for his thoughts on the match on his Seaman Says podcast, sponsored by Betway, the 61-year-old revealed: "I'm a little bit nervy, if I'm honest, because we're not going to be at our strongest, depending on Saka.

"Although when I was in last Thursday at Arsenal, coaching with the young goalies, I saw Bukayo with his boots on and I was like, 'ah, good sign'. Not trainers or anything like that. He was going off to do some one-to-one rehab, so that was a good sign.

"Hopefully it's not too bad. The only indication they've got that's definite is that Saliba's out with his suspension. It's going to be tough, but these are the games you want. These tell you how good you are, or how good you're going to be in the season."

Mirror Football understands that Saka is battling to be ready for Sunday, with Arsenal hopeful he will be able to feature. It comes after Arteta vowed his side would be "flying" when they face Liverpool, despite admitting he saw a "drop off" in their performance against Shakhtar on Tuesday.

"Well we played two and half days ago, after internationals, after flying from Brazil and many countries," Arteta admitted. "I was expecting that we could drop off a little bit.

"And the fact we put so much in the first half and didn't convert and get the distance in terms of the result and the scoreline that far, I think we paid a little bit of that and then we made life more difficult for us because obviously we started to give the ball away and not regain the ball in the right areas and it was more open so that didn't help.

"But we have four days and believe me on Sunday we will be flying. We'll review what we have to do, we have a day off and then two days to prepare the game and Sunday is far and we are more than comfortable that we'll be in a great place."
