‘Easily’: Pundit says ‘sensational’ player could get the Aaron Ramsdale treatment at Arsenal now

Mikel Arteta has proven himself to be an absolutely ruthless manager at Arsenal.

Indeed, Arteta isn’t scared to make big calls on big players when he feels it is necessary.

Whether it’s releasing Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or freezing Aaron Ramsdale out of the team, Arteta is always willing to make those cut-throat decisions for the good of his team.

Arteta may be in the middle of making another big call on another big player.

Indeed, according to Tony Cascarino, speaking on The Game Football Podcast, Ben White may be about to get the Aaron Ramsdale treatment at Arsenal.

Cascarino says that he is a big fan of White, but given that Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori have been starting more regularly for Arsenal recently, he’s suggested that White’s place in the Arsenal team could be in danger in the same way Ramsdale was last season.

Ben White could lose his place at Arsenal
Cascarino spoke about White potentially losing his place in the Arsenal team.

Indeed, the pundit says that Arteta isn’t afraid to drop his key players and with Timber playing so well, he thinks that White could be in trouble in the same way Ramsdale was last season.

“Do you think Arsenal might have two first-choice right-backs now? Just like he had two first-choice goalkeepers?” Cascarino joked.

“Ben White was sensational last season for Arsenal, he really was good, but with Arteta you could come in and dislodge someone quite easily, that’s what happened with the goalkeeping position.”

Why hasn’t White been playing?
Cascarino reckons that White could lose his place in this Arsenal side, but that verdict does seem very harsh.

White has been a key player for Mikel Arteta in recent years, and he’s only been out of the team as of late due to injury.

Indeed, White has been injured as of late, and that’s led to Timber coming in at right-back.

Let’s not forget, the initial plan this season was for Timber to play at left-back, so White’s spot on the right side of the defence may be safer that Cascarino suggests.

That said, Timber does provide some stiff competition for White in that position, so while his situation may not be as grave as Cascarino suggests, the full-back certainly needs to be on his toes in order to preserve his starting spot at Arsenal.

White is set to return from injury soon, and he’ll be hoping to be straight back in the Arsenal starting XI once he’s fully fit.
