Yes, Arsenal only came away with one point after a late goal from Mohamed Salah, but this was a really gutsy showing from the Gunners.
Indeed, Arsenal came into this game with a seriously depleted side, and things only got worse as Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber were both forced off with injury.
Arsenal ended up playing with a seriously makeshift back four as the likes of Myles Lewis-Skelly, Jakub Kiwior and Thomas Partey playing in the defence.
Ben White was the only regular defender in the Arsenal backline who finished the game, and, even then, he was playing in an irregular position at centre-half.
Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, Adrian Clarke has been discussing White’s performance at centre-back, and he’s been full of praise for the defender.

Ben White looked effortless at centre-back
Clarke shared his verdict on White’s performance.
The pundit says that White looked effortless against Liverpool in that centre-back role at the weekend.
“I thought he was fantastic,” Clarke said.
“Fantastic. It’s a brilliant pass. You know, one of the passes of the season so far to put Saka away.
“Yeah, he was fairly effortless in that centre back role. In terms of your original question, context and perspective, absolutely. This doesn’t feel like a good point because were we robbed of a goal at the end?”
What is Ben White’s best position?
Ben White was incredible at centre-back against Liverpool at the weekend, and that begs the question of whether or not he should play that role more often.
White arrived at Arsenal as a centre-back after coming through at Brighton in that position, but he was eventually moved out to right-back when William Saliba broke into the XI.
Mikel Arteta reportedly isn’t sure about White’s best position, and it is hard to say where he is best utilised.
White’s regular role will likely continue to be at right-back, and while he is fantastic in that position, there is an argument to make that the defender could be best utilised in a central defensive position.
Regardless of where White plays, he’s a fantastically talented footballer who Arsenal are very lucky to have on their books.
