Gabriel Jesus replacement can be signed in January as Arsenal can enact ‘gentleman’s agreement’

Gabriel Jesus continues to find life at Arsenal a challenge, again blanking for the Gunners against Southampton despite being given a start by Mikel Arteta. The Brazilian endured a difficult game playing alongside Kai Havertz, failing to score or assist.
Made worse by his replacement Leandro Trossard creating more chances, five to the striker’s three, in a shorter space of time having come off the bench. Jesus’ form and injury struggles have led to many supporters calling for a replacement to better compete with Havertz.

The Slovenian international would sign a new contract with RB Leipzig and has already begun the season very well. Six goals and three assists in the first nine games including three in the first two Champions League matches against Juventus and Atletico Madrid is an excellent start.

It is worth considering that Sesko has only just turned 21, and remains very fresh on the European elite stage. Jesus meanwhile at 27 is yet to record a goal or an assist in his eight appearances during the season.

His contract expires in 2027 meaning that at the end of the current campaign, he reaches the infamous two-year threshold. It has been well-documented that as part of the new revamped squad-building strategy that the club prefer for players not to fall below two years remaining on their deals.

Sometimes it is unavailable and for others, the interest simply fails to emerge to take them away. Oleksandr Zinchenko is in such a phase right now and Jesus will be too, unless he is sold either in January or the next summer window.

Interestingly regarding Sesko, his new deal is understood to contain a release clause. Whether this is available to be activated in January remains unknown however there is understood to be a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ in place for a move to happen in 2025 should a move that Sesko desires come along.
