Gary Lineker shares what Alan Shearer said instantly when Southampton scored v Arsenal

After a 0-0 first half, the Gunners went behind when Cameron Archer opened the scoring for the visitors.
It sparked a sharp reaction from the home side, and Arsenal scored three goals to secure all three points. Just like the game against Leicester City, they piled up pressure and eventually got the result they wanted.

Gary Lineker shared an interesting story of how Alan Shearer reacted when Southampton scored the first goal. Shearer and Micah Richards were the pundits on BBC Match of the Day last week, and Lineker has shared how the former great Newcastle striker reacted immediately.

What Gary Lineker said about the incident
Lineker shared the incident while doing The Rest Is Football Podcast along with Shearer and Richards. On Saturday, at the BBC office, Shearer and Richards were watching the game closely and were making their analysis for the show.

When Arsenal scored, the first thing Shearer said was the Gunners would win the game 3-1, and exactly that happened in the end.

“I remember soon after Southampton scored, Al (Shearer) goes 3-1. It will be 3-1. I’ve to give you credit. You were right. It was true,” said Lineker.

Arsenal are genuine contenders for the Premier League title
After challenging for the Premier League title in the past two seasons and failing to win it, there is a feeling that Mikel Arteta’s side might push Manchester City all the way this time.

While Liverpool remain at the top of the table after seven games, they are yet to be properly tested. The results after the international break will decide whether they are really strong enough to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

After that, they face Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea, and in between, there are two Champions League games as well. It’s going to be very challenging for the Gunners, but they have enough depth and quality to deal with it.
