‘Genuinely’: Theo Walcott says he played with someone at Arsenal who was a better finisher than Thierry Henry

Theo Walcott was lucky enough to play with some incredible players during his career.

Walcott played with the best of the best for both Arsenal and England as he shared a pitch with the likes of Thierry Henry, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Cesc Fabregas.

Speaking to the BBC on TikTok, Walcott has been building his so-called ultimate player made up of attributes of former opponents and teammates.

Inevitably, Walcott picked Lionel Messi’s dribbling and Cesc Fabregas’ passing ability, but he made an interesting claim about the best finisher he played with.

Walcott snubbed Thierry Henry when making his ultimate player, claiming that he thought Robin van Persie was a better finisher than the Frenchman.

The winger said that Van Persie was a better finisher than Henry.

Henry did score more Premier League goals than Van Persie, but Walcott believes the Dutchman was much more lethal.

“The best finisher for me would be Robin van Persie, that left foot was genuinely a wand, surprisingly not Thierry Henry, so yeah, Robin van Persie,” Walcott said.

Walcott may think that Van Persie was a better finisher than Henry, but as an all-round player, he prefers the Frenchman.

Indeed, Walcott picked Henry over Van Persie when ranking Arsenal legends a few months ago.

Interestingly, he also picked Henry over Dennis Bergkamp.

Henry is undoubtedly one of Arsenal’s greatest ever players, and he’s perhaps the best the Premier League has ever seen.

Henry has won more Premier League Golden Boots than any other player, while he also holds the record for the most assists in a Premier League season.

Walcott may think that Van Persie is the better finisher, but Henry is an all-time great.
