Liverpool receives Mohamed Salah transfer replacement recommendation - 'same style'

Despite Liverpool's eagerness to extend Salah's contract, the player hinted in September that this might be his last season with the club. The 32-year-old is currently Liverpool's top scorer and assist provider this season, contributing to 15 goals in total.

This is eight more than his closest teammate, Luis Diaz. Replacing Salah, who has scored 219 goals in 362 appearances since joining Liverpool, would be a daunting task.

However, ex-Liverpool player Pennant believes former Leeds United star Raphinha could be up to the challenge. The Brazilian, who attracted interest from Arsenal and Chelsea before moving to Barcelona, has scored 10 times this season.

His record of 30 goals in 101 appearances doesn't quite match Salah's. But it's worth noting, though, that few players matched Salah's current rate before his £34.3million transfer to Liverpool.

Pennant has tipped Raphinha for a sensational return to the Premier League with Liverpool, should Salah part ways with the Reds. Speaking to Instant Casino, Pennant said: "If Mohamed Salah does leave, I can see Raphinha making a return to the Premier League in a Liverpool shirt to replace him," adding that Raphinha's pace and style on the right flank would seamlessly fit into Liverpool's attacking dynamics.

"He's quick and fits that same style of play on the right-hand side and cutting in. He's very tricky and that's what Liverpool have now with Luis Díaz and Salah."

Pennant also highlighted Raphinha's recent performances for Barcelona, including his goal-scoring prowess which was on full display against top-tier teams. "He's got that eye for goal which we've seen from him at Barcelona where he's doing really well – scoring hat-tricks against the likes of Bayern Munich and playing a big part in their recent 4-0 El Clásico win against Real Madrid."

The former Liverpool winger believes Raphinha's Premier League experience with Leeds United positions him as an ideal candidate for Liverpool's forward line. "His experience at Leeds would make him a good fit at Liverpool – he's comfortable in the Premier League and he managed to make an impact and score goals there despite them struggling as a team. You'd imagine that a team like Liverpool would step him up a level with how attacking they are and how comfortable they are going forward."

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot seems to be growing weary of the constant speculation surrounding Salah's future. Earlier this month, he expressed his frustration to the press: "It's the same boring answer as always," he told reporters.

"I could really understand if you ask me this once every two weeks but if you ask me this after two or three days again then you still get the same answer and people feel that I'm boring them! ".
