Mikel Arteta gives honest Arne Slot and Liverpool verdict as Arsenal boss sets clear challenge

Mikel Arteta has offered a glowing verdict on Arne Slot and Liverpool ahead of Arsenal's clash against the Reds on Sunday.

The Gunners welcome Slot's men to Emirates Stadium this weekend in what is an early top of the table encounter. The Dutchman has taken to life at Anfield like a duck to water, winning seven of his eight league games in charge. In fact, in all competitions under Slot this campaign, the Reds have won 11 of their 12 matches.

Asked what he has thought about Slot and Liverpool so far, Arteta told reporters on Friday: "Yes very good. They are in a really good moment, a great run.

"You can see the touch that he’s put on them, to a team that was already very strong. You can see his fingerprints there on that team."

Arteta added: "It’s a team that has been competing for nine years at the highest level. They know how to compete, how to threaten you when the ball is really far, when the ball is in the outside units especially.

"They have the quality to damage you. For nine years consistently it’s been there. That means they’re really good at what they do."

Arteta was also asked what he feels will give his side the edge against Liverpool on Sunday. "That things will go our way," the Spaniard said.
