Bukayo Saka has been at the centre of a lot of debate in this regard as of late.
Speaking on Inside Gooners, Darren Bent has been discussing Saka and this debate, and he says that people often make the argument against Saka by using Mohamed Salah and the number of goals he scores.
Salah may put up better numbers than Saka, but according to Bent, technically, Saka is the better footballer, and he has no doubt about that.
Bukayo Saka is better than Mohamed Salah
Bent shared his verdict on Saka and the Liverpool star.
Bent says that while Salah’s numbers are better, he believes that on a technical level, the Arsenal ace is ahead of Salah.
“Do you know what? I think the argument people will all say is probably the guy that he’s up against in Mo Salah. Because you look at Mo Salah’s numbers throughout the last, what, six, seven years, I mean, they are astronomical.
“I mean, that’s the only thing Saka can do, I believe, to get to that level is the numbers. If you talk about player for player, I’ve got no doubt Saka’s a better player, as in a footballer than Mo Salah.”
Saka’s stats compared to Salah
As Bent says, Salah’s stats are superior to Bukayo Saka’s and until that gap is bridged, it will be hard for Saka to win this debate.
Saka is a brilliant player, but, ultimately, the most valuable thing in football is putting the ball into the back of the net.
Salah has outscored Saka in every single season he’s played so far, and that is why he is considered the better player.
Yes, Saka may have better technique in some ways, but technique alone doesn’t win you matches, goals do.
Salah is perhaps the most decisive attacking player the Premier League has seen over the past 10 years, and while he may not be as aesthetically pleasing a player as Saka, he’s much more effective.
Salah and Saka were both on the scoresheet at the weekend at the Emirates, and both players are bound to have a huge say on the title race this season.
