'One of the top teams': RB Leipzig player hails Liverpool after facing them in the Champions League last night

Liverpool made it three wins from three in the UEFA Champions League this season with a 1-0 win away to RB Leipzig.

Darwin Nunez’s close-range effort in the first-half was all it took for Liverpool to secure all three points in Saxony as the Reds continued their incredible streak under Arne Slot, with the Dutch manager once again proving to be the dream successor to Arne Slot.

With Mohamed Salah praised by Pat Nevin for his performance against Leipzig, it was a great night at the office for Liverpool, who again showed their credentials as one of the best teams in Europe and a real contender for this year’s Champions League.

And Leipzig captain Orban was also impressed with what he saw from Liverpool.

Orban names Liverpool as ‘one of the top teams in the world’
Speaking to the press after the game, the Hungary international lauded Liverpool as ‘one of the top teams in the world’, with Orban noting that Leipzig players well but were unable to keep up with Liverpool in the end.

One of two teams to win their first three Champions League league games this season, Liverpool have been in outstanding form in Europe under Slot, and the Reds are now winning some big praise from the likes of Orban.

The defender said when asked about Liverpool’s performance: “We kept up well, but this is Liverpool, one of the top teams in the world. We didn’t defend consistently enough and we weren’t precise enough with the ball in the final third.

“But the bottom line was that the performance was okay. We are currently not in a position to be there in the decisive moments against the top teams in the Champions League. But we have a young team, some of them are playing their first games in the Champions League.”

How good have Liverpool been under Slot this season?
With Slot breaking a Premier League record in his first game in charge at Liverpool, the Dutch coach was seemingly tipped from greatness from the very first moment as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s first 12 Liverpool games Arne Slot’s first 12 Liverpool games
Wins 7 11
Draws 3 0
Losses 2 1
Goals scored 21 24
Goals conceded 10 5
And as per the table above, Slot’s record in his first 12 games as Liverpool manager compared to Klopp is nothing short of spectacular, with the former Feyenoord coach taking to life on Merseyside like a duck to water.

Indeed, Slot has proven to be the dream successor to Klopp at Liverpool, and the 46-year-old could lead the Reds into an exciting new era if he can manage this incredible level of form throughout the season.
