Report: Mikel Arteta really wants to sign 'incredible' £50m striker for Arsenal with potential deal possible

Arsenal are already drawing up plans for the upcoming transfer windows and are likely to be in the market for a striker.

A world-class player to lead the line might be the final piece of the jigsaw for Mikel Arteta, who has assembled a fantastic squad with the perfect blend of youth and experience since replacing Unai Emery at the helm.

The Gunners were in the market for a striker in the summer transfer window but failed to get a deal over the line, with Raheem Sterling’s arrival on loan their only attacking reinforcement this year.

However, it appears as if they have been offered renowned hope of signing one of their long-term transfer targets in 2025…

Benjamin Sesko rejected a move to Arsenal in the summer as he opted to continue his development with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The Slovenian international put pen to paper on a new deal until 2029, but according to Give Me Sport, the Gunners could agree a deal for him in January, with the player joining the club after the conclusion of the 2024-25 season.

Arsenal could look to reach an agreement in principle to fend off potential suitors, with Sesko’s stock continuing to rise due to his recent performances for club and country.

The report also states that the Slovenian is Mikel Arteta’s ‘leading candidate’ for the striker role, with Leipzig ready to sanction his sale for around £50m.

Sesko has been hailed as an ‘incredible’ talent and could be the answer to Arsenal’s striker woes as he continues to bang in the goals.

Arsenal really need another striker
While it could be argued that Havertz has performed reasonably well, Gabriel Jesus simply hasn’t been good enough for Arsenal since the start of last season, having scored just four Premier League goals in that period.

Sesko, on the other hand, has notched up ten goals and three assists for club and country this season and has quickly established himself as one of the best young strikers in world football.

Arsenal have continued to keep tabs on Sesko and with the striker set to be available for £50m in 2025, it remains to be seen if they press ahead with their interest and get the deal over the line.
