Sky Sports: Friday afternoon Saka & Calafiori fitness updates ahead of Arsenal v Liverpool after training

Arsenal trio Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber were not in training today ahead of their Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday, according to Sky Sports.

The England international missed the games against Bournemouth and Shakhtar Donetsk, and it appears he could be unavailable for selection when Arsenal take on the Premier League leaders at Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Timber also missed the last three games through injury and it remains to be seen whether he will be available to play against the Reds.

Calafiori was injured against the Ukrainians during the Champions League game on Tuesday and it appears he is not returning to action anytime soon after his representatives gave an update on his fitness yesterday.

Arsenal will also be without Martin Odegaard against Liverpool from the look of things, and manager Mikel Arteta will hope others can step up in the absence of some of his key players.

Saka could still be available for selection as he has been training alone, and the Gunners may have decided against involving him with the rest of the team today so as not to risk his fitness.

Arteta will be having his pre-match conference later today, and he will not be giving much away concerning the fitness of the aforementioned trio so as to keep his Liverpool counterpart Arne Slot guessing.

Arsenal will be desperate to return to winning ways after the 2-0 loss to Bournemouth last weekend, and they could do with a player like Saka against the Reds.

Failure to win against Liverpool will pile pressure on the players, especially if Manchester City win against Southampton tomorrow, and the result could have a huge say on their title aspirations.
